Students should be able to have freedom with our cell phones during class. Cell phones aren't just used for texting and calling anymore. Students should be permitted to use cell phones to help them with their work. Students will be more interested in what they're learning by seeing it on their phones or other devices, rather than listening to a teacher talk about it. Cell phones don't just allow students to stay in touch with their friends but they are a great learning resource too. Teachers need to encourage students to use their phones in a responsible way by staying on them and make sure they are doing their work on the appropriate sites.
Cell phones can be used as an excellent learning resource. Students can use calculators for math, research information for their projects or just everyday class work to help you better you're learning. In June, the national non-partisan group Common Sense Media issued a report for schools to redesign education to include digital learning. The teachers want students to learn how to access online information, and also understand how to responsibly use their phones to search for their work. Students should be able to take responsibility with using our technology to help with schoolwork online. Although some people don't take responsibility that's not fair to the other portion of the students that do what they're suppose to do and complete their assignments. That could also take effect on other students in the classroom because they may learn better like that. If students don't want to follow rules they should personally be punished for it not just threatened with referrals.
Cell phones can be a distraction in school and that is when drama is started with texting in school, also when students are on social media, sites and are getting distracted and not completing their schoolwork. Tomas Chamorro says that "Life has become more complex but we hardly ever notice it because technology has made complexity so easy".
