Crack cocaine is one of the largest and most popular lethal drug (drug that could lead to death) used all around the world. Crack, like other lethal drugs, is used to make a person feel like their problems "float away"" by making them euphoric, but for a short period of time. Crack isn't good for your health whatsoever, yet, even those people who know this information, still take it. People who use crack are putting their life in danger, just to be problem free for not even that long. A prime example of why crack is so bad is that it could cause lung cancer. Now, all cancer is bad, but your lungs are what you use to breathe, breathing is necessary for living. Without your lungs, you won't be able to breathe, let alone live, you will die.
This surge of crack usage started across the US between 1984 and the early 1990's. In the early 1980's, most of the Crack cocaine shipping to the US was coming through Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. Soon, there was a huge glut of cocaine in these islands, which meant the drug dealers had to get rid of it as soon as possible. They figured that to sell this product quicker, they should lower the price really low, so they decided to drop the price 80%. Since these drug dealers were faced with the discounted price of the already illegal drug, they came to a decision to change the cocaine to a smokable substance so it could be sold in smaller quantities. .
Crack is made from cocaine, and cocaine comes from the leaf of a coca tree. Coca trees are grown in South America, normally Colombia, Bolivia, and Peru.
