Through the years, there has been a great change in society's employment. Corporate America has taken extreme cutbacks in the labor department that has left many unemployed. The rate has been on a very slow downfall over the months which indicate a slow job market. Even though it's a positive indication, most companies aren't hiring at a large rate. As the economy continues to recover slowly many are still trying to balance their financially and socially. The situation appears to show progress over the past few months, leaving the unemployment benefits claims at a decrease. Many companies are creating new positions to assist and create a positive outlook in the system, but even with these efforts the small increase in available employment is not consistent with society's unemployment rate. Many that are out of work have begun to take jobs for lesser earnings and no benefits.

Unemployment not only affects those out of work, but it also affects individual family members. Unemployment creates poverty; causing a negative effect on society as a whole. Many families suffer emotional, psychological, spiritual, and physical downfall. Families are still in distress for a number of many reasons. One reason that individuals are in distress, and dread unemployment is due to the disgrace society has attached upon unemployment. Many people feel as if they do not have a job that society will look down on them; making them feel unaccepted by today's society.
