Metro has one of the biggest academic programs for Business and Event Management. Being a senior in high school, I went through the process of trying to find a college that fit all of my requirements, from having my major to being how far away it is from my home in Colorado. When looking at schools that are out of state, I came to find that there aren't many schools that have Hospitality Management for one of their major. The largest schools for the program are Metro and Iowa State, even though my mother went to Iowa State I decided to apply to Metro and got accepted in. In the interview that I had with Katelyn, she had told me that she has been at Metro all of her 3 years, and that she has loved all of her college years and wouldn't want to go anywhere else. .
Continuing the interview I asked her form some opinions. Have you found school harder than you expected, why or why not? She told me "I have never been the best student. School has always been harder for me, so when I got into college I knew I was going to have to try my hardest and it has really been paying off! For the most part the classes aren't too difficult but every now and then you come across something that will give you a hard time." Also another question asked if she was able to find a job that is related to her education. What is it, and what do you do? "Yes I have, I am a banquet captain at a country club which means that I work for the banquets department, working weddings and other events, and I'm the "head server." Trying to get opinions on wedding consultants is hard. When trying to conduct a survey, not many of high school kids even know what wedding planners are or what they do, or even knew they existed. I put together two surveys and gave them to my advisement class filled with different gender and ages of teens, and another class full of seniors. .
When trying to conduct the two different surveys and track down my mentor and mother to give the interview was hard.
