Children and sometimes adults are being exposed to different types of online harassment. Cyber bullying is used to describe online harassment, which can be in the form of text, the sending of offensive and cruel e-mail, or even harassing others by posting inappropriate images or videos on blogs, or social networking sites. What happens online is a problems society is facing with cyber bullying and is a cause of depression among youth. There are many ways society is trying to put a stop to cyber bullying, for example informing younger students, creating programs, and enforcing laws in some states.
The NCPC (National Crime Prevention Council) is a program that was formed to reduce cyber bullying, and decrease the amount of cyber bullies. They provide information about cyber bullying, training on cyber bullying, products and publications on cyber bullying, and programs on cyber bullying. Programs like this show society that conflict resolution is possible.
There are many negative effects of cyber bullying that can harm and quickly damage a family. In the past there have been a large amount of stories in the news of children, teens, and young adults who have been driven to suicide or violent crime as a result of being bullied over the Internet. Bullying that is not treated or attended can lead to depression, destructive behavior and bad performance in school or work.
People often bully others online because they're motivated by anger, revenge and frustration. Some people do it for the fun of it or because they are bored and have free time on their hands and are accessible to too many forms of technology. A lot of students do it to get a negative reaction from the wrong crowd.
