Attending SWOSU, I am surrounded by great facilities and I am lucky to have the opportunities to train and become a better student-athlete. The Wellness Centre is the facility that is open to all students and is equipped with three gyms, multiple dance studios, an indoor track, a weight room and a rock climbing wall. In my opinion, I do believe that this facility is user friendly. It is a great place to work out and train with teammates or friends but it is also a place to learn. There are multiple conference rooms and classrooms that are occupied by classes throughout the day. The Wellness centre also runs work out classes that are available to the student body at no extra cost. I believe It is a great way to get in shape, have fun and meet new people. .
Throughout the year, the Wellness Centre has activities held for the student body to not only attend but participate in. Intramural Basketball, Soccer and Volleyball are competitive sports that are played in one of the three gyms inside the Wellness. Students choose teams between their fellow classmates and friends to participate in leagues that are organized, refereed and controlled by the student body. It provides a great opportunity for students to stay in shape, have fun with each other and participate in some healthy competition throughout the school year, especially in the colder seasons. Students that don't choose to participate in the games, can watch from the bleachers and cheer on their friends and classmates. I believe that College is a place where you expand your friendships and personal health and what better way to do that, than participating in classes, intramural leagues or attending the games as a spectator?.
Many students that don't feel inclined to play on a sports team at the university or within the Intramural leagues can also be apart of the events, through behind the scenes action. The wellness provides part-time and full-time jobs to students that attend SWOSU.
