What is a criminal record? A criminal records is person's history of been convicted of a crime. This kind of history is very essential for an individual because it can jeopardize his or her chances of prosperity in a variety of ways. In most cases, it can hinder the person's chance of going to college, getting a job, the freedom to even move around without being humiliated or looked up differently by his or her fellow peers. Now the question as to whether or not criminal records should be made public information arises. Personally I will say that it depends in the type of crime or extend to which the crime might have been committed. .
A crime is the violation of the morals of the public of society as a whole. There are several types of crimes, some which can be neglected after haven been punished, and others that needs to be kept as a record and even be distributed to certain authorities. Loitering, not respecting traffic laws, over speeding, fighting in public. These are the types of crimes I will refer to as minor crimes, exposing such will just be wasted of time because at the end of the day you will find that just too many people will have been convicted even repeatedly. On the other hand crimes like Rape, kidnapping, massive stealing, KILLING, drug transactions, and many others. These types of crimes should be noted and taken into long term consideration even after conviction or punishment. .
Looking at how this will affect a person's ability to be admitted. I do not think that if a college administration board is review a student's record for admission and comes across a form that says that a particular student was involved in a bank robbery some years ago. And may be the student is denied admission because of these. Yes stealing is breaking the law, but I believe that we all have the need for education, especially in the case of people who are under age because, denying them that opportunity will only push them to go and do back to doing the things that are considered a crime.
