Recently, I have been researching the positives and negatives of adult stem cell research and embryonic stem cell research. Throughout my findings, I have discovered that I feel as if adult stem cell research is more beneficial for many people because adult stem cells offer a possibility of a renewable source of replacement tissues and cells, adult stem cells have the ability to differentiate in to other types of cells, and also adult stem cell research can further advance the possible cures and benefits that adult stem cells provide, that can further provide treatment for diseases, disabilities, and conditions, which is why I conclude that adult stem cells should be funded and supported. .
First, adult stem cells offer the possibility of a renewable source of replacement cells and tissues to treat many different conditions, diseases, and disabilities. For example, this renewable source of cells reproduces rapidly, which provides a quick recovery. Also, adult stem cells not only respond to injury of an organ or tissue rapidly, they also repair the injury effectively. This makes recovery from a disease or disability stress free because of the strong, rapid effect adult stem cell reproduction has on injured tissues and organs. This effective treatment to injuries of tissues and cells is why adult stem cell research should be supported and funded.
Also, adult stem cells have the ability to differentiate into other types of cells. This is called plasticity. Plasticity is a great advantage of adult stem cell treatment because this means that donors can give their stem cells to other patients in need. Injection would be an easy process because adult stem cells can change in to different types of cells. Also, injection would be effective. Adult stem cells change rapidly to tend to the need of the injury of the tissue or cell. The fact that adult stem cells have the ability to differentiate in to different types of cells to further help cure diseases is why adult stem cell research should be supported.
