Of the two types of pain, physical is what usually comes to mind first, but both are extremely unpleasant and have lasting effects. .
Emotional pain is a broken heart. Losing someone you love is the most common cause of emotional pain--such as the loss of a child, parent, close friend or spouse. Emotional pain can also be caused by guilt, embarrassment, betrayal or depression. Traumatic events, like rape, can cause this type of pain as well. Emotional pain can feel like the heart being torn right out and cut into pieces or the brain ready to explode; it can feel like walking around with an extra load of weight on the back or with tears running down the face. Emotional pain can be compared to physical pain. Emotional pain can sting like an insect bite, hurt like a stomach ache, or damage like a broken bone. Unlike physical pain, emotional pain cannot be healed by our own body; the healing process for emotional pain is much less certain. Neither physical nor emotional pain is something that can be seen. Blood and tears may be seen, but pain cannot be identified in this way.
Pain is a part of life and is felt on some level every day. Even if one has an unbelievable amount of strength or exceptionally high pain tolerance, they most likely still feel either physical or emotional pain in their life. Pain can be compared to love. Both are private sensations; it can't always be seen when we feel either. They are also both significant factors in human life and there is no way to protect ourselves from these feelings. The main contrast between the two is love is a positive emotion, while pain is considered negative. Feeling pain is definitely not pleasurable, making it hard to see why we experience pain or what good comes from it, but positive effects of pain do exist.
It is true pain is a feeling all humans are exposed too; however, there is an extremely rare disorder called congenital insensitivity to pain.
