Utopia is a place that can only exist in ones dreams it can never be found on a map. The idea of a society with a perfect community is nearly impossible to create. Many great philosophers have tried to do such a thing, however they have never reached the "ideal" society. One such philosopher is Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson uses his ideas of a perfect society in "The Declaration of Independence." Another philosopher that speaks of a utopia is Plato. He speaks of a utopia that "flourishes" good moral values over fame and fortune. This is similar to Moore's view on utopia. Moore finds that in his utopia an ideal society is a self-sustaining one, a community that provides for itself and relies on no one for food and supplies. Moore also believes that each person should also be assigned a job or task; personally this sounds like communism. Aside from a perfect society there is a film called "Children of Men" that depicts a dystopia; a society that does not function what so ever. The reason why this dystopian society doesn't function is because of a key factor in the success of any society or individual, hope. My utopia consists of similar ideals from Moore, King, Jefferson, and from the film "Children of Men." The key to my utopia is a comfortable living.
Every individual wants to live without limits; however that is not possible in reality. In my utopia I would have opportunity be the key to an individual's success. Instead of having jobs that limit productivity I would want a society that offers individuals opportunities to be very successful in doing something that they love. I would want to prevent the reliance on government money and create some sort of program to get the individual out of poverty with wither free education or opportunities to take them out of the situation at hand. I believe that every single person has something that they could be a professional at and make a good amount of money on.
