There are many players that have done drugs while playing in the NFL. Many understand that it is bad, against the rules and have to pay the consequences but the outcome of this one went too far. A lot of other athletes were caught doing worse drugs but did not get a good suspension. Yes, athletes do have to take responsibility for their actions but the NFLPA went overboard with this one. Brandon Browner should have not been suspended and deserves a Super bowl ring. .
Brandon Browner is a six-foot four cornerback that plays for the super bowl winners, the Seattle Seahawks. He played in about three games, got injured and then was suspended for the rest of the 2013-2014 season. In December he tested positive for marijuana and was moved from stage one to stage three in the Substance Abuse Program (Polzer). The length of the suspension has to do with what he got away with in 2006 also, when he played for the Denver Broncos used enhancements, went into the Canadian League and then came back a year after. A suspension for Performing-Enhancing drugs also cost him four games in the start of the 2014-2015 season (Fenno). Browner plans on suing the NFL to comeback earlier and get on the field.
Browner felt that he should have not been suspended for that long or even be suspended at all. He will file for a lawsuit against the NFL next week in federal court in Colorado in hopes of having his suspension overturned and getting an injunction that would allow Browner to become a free agent (Pelissero). So he was forced to miss the whole season and could not play with Seahawks in the regular season and in the post season where they went on to win the super bowl. But Browner seems to try and keep the situation positive, is pretty happy with where he is at now and making progress to coming back. .
But in January, Browner accepted responsibility for his actions and apologized on behalf of his family, teammates and the Seahawks organization.
