Siri Carpenter said in her article about children being affected by this Information age, she states that all of this improvement will increase the way children learn (Carpenter, 2000) I agree in some ways and do think that is helpful, but that does not replace the social skills needed in today's world. It helps a person in so many ways, if it is meeting someone, or just having a casual conversation with their mom and dad. I think all of that is starting to go away and that will have the biggest impact on an individual level. .
Moving into the Information Age in the community seems to have a mix of negatives and positives in my personal opinion. One particular area I see some negative and positive in a community is in relations to news outlets. The negative of this new Information Age is that people do not have time to sit down and actually watch the news, they are too busy doing one of the many tasks that their day requires, or they would just rather not sit down and watch an hour worth of news to see one thing they are interested in. So these troubles cause major problems for local news outlets who are trying to make their news company relevant and still usable for people today. The positive that in turn comes from this is that news outlets are starting to make their reports accessible online or directly to a smartphone app of some sort. But for people who are not into the technology to that extreme it is benefitting them also. It is also causing these outlets to shorten their reports that are on television or radio which makes it more enjoyable and this will cause more people to watch or listen, and stay up to date on their community and what is going on around them. One positive I find in the community the move into the Information Age it is affect the business aspect of communities in two different ways. In one way it is becoming easier than ever to promote business and market a company with the availability of internet, radio, and social networks.
