The study examines the impact of e-payment in preventing fraud in government agencies. The study employed the use of secondary data to collect information from the study. The findings of the study shows that implementation of e-payment system curtails the level of fraud as a means of settlement of transaction system in government agencies: between the Financial institutions and contractors, fraud is a major challenge militating against effective implementation of use of e-payment system as settlement of transaction in government agencies .The study recommend that government agencies in Nigeria should institute a strong internal control system to prevent e-payment fraud, however, the internal control system is not strong enough to prevent fraud. Hence, there is need for management of government agencies to institute effective internal control system to check fraud in the organization and the need for training and retraining of staff in order to keep them abreast of the current happening in the area of e-payment and necessary security measures. .
