Sex Trafficking - Human Rights Violation

How people lure victims into sex trafficking is offering them an "opportunity " that sounds too good to pass up in addition to a new and better life. Because this is one of the biggest underground organizations in the world, it also makes it one the hardest crime to track. It is so hard to track because of the men in charge of the crimes are scattered around the world. Different leaders, different countries, and all are hidden in secret domains. It has globalized. Groups have developed specific routes and regions and have slowly expanded their trails. This allows them to find new markets and merge into bigger corporations. (UNODC, 7). One thing that has exacerbated the tracking of the crimes is the expansion of our Internet in modern day society. The Internet and websites have taken the crime off the streets and into the World Wide Web. This makes it easier to book hotel rooms that are ideal for temporary houses for their on-the-move organization; it also is out of the eyes of law enforcement and officials. Computers also allow people to create websites that promote prostitution and make millions of dollars by offering money to traffickers and making bids. .
The emotional cost that comes along with this organized crime is unfathomable. Manipulation is abused on young boys and girls along with destroying any individuality and freedom that they owned. Privacy is gone and boundaries are crossed. A lifetime of abuse has a major psychological effect on young adults. Those who escape the organization often suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, hostility, and depression. Newly identified trafficked women require immediate attention due to their state of mind and post-traumatic anxiety and recovery time before they can be brought home and make decisions, (American Journal of Public Health, p55-59). Trained councilors interviewed 192 women who had been trafficked and sexually exploited about abuse and evaluated their psychical and mental status within 14 days of entry into post-trafficking recovery services.
