School has taught me many lessons, some of which I will use and some of which I will not use in my life. However, I have also learned many lessons through my work experience and extra-curricular activities that have helped me. Throughout high school, I have always been involved in after school activities: Football, Tennis, Peer Leaders, National Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society. My work experience at a fast food restaurant, Mcdonald's, has also helped me in many ways.
Peer leader and being the captain of the tennis team helped me with Leadership, a quality that is very necessary to be successful. Both of these activities helped me develop a leadership role to younger students as well as my teammates. Peer Leader required me to help younger students who might be in trouble and lead them to the right way. As a Peer Leader, I had to go to elementary schools and be a good role model. I helped them with after school sports and played myself as well. Being a captain of the tennis team has also required me to lead a group of people. Before every match, I would have to give a speech that would motivate other players to play as well as they can.
National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society have also helped me in many ways. For National Honor Society I had to tutor an underclassmen student, Casey, in math. Casey understood the concept, but was not working up to ability. I helped him focus and get back on track, which in result got him good grades. Spanish Honor Society made me understand and appreciate other cultures. As a member of Spanish Honor Society, I went to Spanish Tavern, a Spanish restaurant, and also went to a Spanish play. Being in this society taught me a great deal about Spanish culture.
Working at a fast food restaurant, Mcdonald's, has helped me developed my people skills. Working in Mcdonald's required me to greet and talk to complete strangers. It also made me work as a team with people that I have never met.
