The powerful bright football lights overtake her vision. The crowd turns away from the concession stand and turn towards the field. Just as the first note is about to begin, Melody hits the floor. She's been having the same dream for a month now. Being in the Junior Olympian Marching Band was her dream. Melody didn't just want to join the marching band; she had to join the marching band.
As soon as she had the chance to, she found the band director and asked to join the marching band. The first step was done, she was officially in. Entering the band room for the first time was just a whole new feeling. Everyone was talking, laughing, and just being happy; just as Melody knew she would be too. Everyone was assigned their uniforms and hats, with their legendary golden plumes on top. She scrambled around the crowded room until she found someone in the same section with her, figuring they would have to spend time together, so why not start now? Melody had a natural talent of being able to play virtually any instrument from the harp, violin, piccolo, saxophone, and bass to trumpet and everything in between. Melody decided to pick the instrument she loved the most, the golden trumpet.
Before the band director, Mr. Ruess could even mention anything about band camp; Melody knew all about it and couldn't wait. The band would basically practice all day, either the music itself or the steps to the show in the sizzling heat as well. Hearing this made her feel all tingly and excited inside and it hadn't even started yet. Boy was Melody wrong. As they started to learn more and more steps, she would become more and more confused. Luckily her friend Andrew, a mortal, was matched in knowledge of memorizing steps as Melody was to knowledge of music. She was always able to trust him with help for anything. Everything they had worked forward to be was finally working out.
Mr. Ruess had selected a piece of music involving a trumpet solo.
