The future is here and the next big thing is just around the corner. It's the topic of the legalization of marijuana; as it's a growing controversial topic of conversation due to the recent increased exposure in the media. As you may know there has been twenty states that have legalized it for medicinal marijuana use with the addition of Colorado and Washington legalizing usage completely for recreational proposes. Some would say or may argue that it's only a matter of time for the overall legalization of marijuana in the U.S. And I agree with this proposal. However, I don't believe the legalization will be in the near future but that slowly more and more states will follow the lead of the current states who already in favor of the legalization. This is where my argument lies, the marijuana industry is estimated at 40 billion dollars a year stated by (Ariel Nelson CNBC article). Considering the financial implications, the marijuana industry can raise eyebrows and could question consumers and investors of what could potentially be the next biggest thing for investment purposes. Recent polls show that a majority of Americans, 58%, are in favor of the legalization of marijuana. The fight between the legalization of marijuana has and will continue to be a never ending debate but has gained more attention while stirring up some buzz to investors to jump on the bandwagon on what could be the futures next biggest cash crop and investment product.
