The Ancient World as Viewed in Movies

This is the milestone that sets the movie into the second stage of conflict, which is when the hero's journey begins. All the challenges and dangers that he faced are included in this stage and it also takes most of the movie's length. The final stage of the movie is marked when Zeus was finally rescued and Perseus, along with Queen Adromeda's army and the demi god Agenor, prepared for the last quarrel. It can be said that Wrath of the Titans presents more of a linear narrative structure that is somewhat predictable. The movie's turning points can hardly surprise its audiences even with the sudden betrayal of Ares towards his own father. Throughout the movie, there is only one starting point that leads to one outcome, no branching plot were created to trick its viewers or to make the movie more complicated. The storytelling is very straightforward, single-layered and fast-paced with its complete focus on describing another victorious journey of the great Perseus rather than guiding the viewers to a story of how a demi god, who wants to be an ordinary fisherman, tries to conquer the most terrified monster that even gods fear to save the humanity. Because of that, all the over-arching points were revealed with no surprise and as exactly like how they were expected, not as the consequence of the factors built up previously, making these milestones less stunning and lessen their effects. Nonetheless, even how the story was told might disappoint its audiences in term of entertainment; the storyline with its clear three narrative stages still proves its 'epicness' with its adventurous elements and heroic character's bravery and victory. .
Talking about bravery, most of the epics always describe its hero or heroin as being courageous, which seems to be deemed as one of the morally good qualities in Greek mythology. Wrath of the Titans is no exception. The idea of being an honorable man, or simply being a man like Perseus is highly respected.
