Twins and the Black Sheep of the Family

We are simply just siblings, in my eyes. I believe the separation my sister and me have is not only from our differences in hobbies, but started from the age of 4 when my sister and I started school. We started pre-kindergarten early due to my parents want to have us start school because they thought we were ready. I was reading an article from California state university that stated " to put it simply school leaders should know that when a pair of twins has a genuine preference to stay together in school, it does not necessarily indicate a pathological co-dependence, a lack of individuality or an inability to make friends with other children. It is more likely indicative of a healthy, supportive relationship"(Chandler, 2014). This article really got me thinking when I was a child. I remember being in kindergarten and wanting to just be near my sister but it simply wasn't allowed, they might have even tried to explain it was a conflict of interest. Furthermore I feel like the school system should let the parents, of twins specifically, decide whether to separate the twins in school only in order to achieve what's best for the children. Parents deserve a right to advocate for their children and more especially twins these days. .
"95 percent of parents believe that they know their kids best, and believe that schools should try to honor their class placement request for twins" (Chandler, 2014) was a statistic that spoke straight to home. All I wanted when I was in pre-kindergarten to about 2nd grade was just to be in the same class as my sister. I might of have what specialist would call separation anxiety, although I never was seen for any such thing. Although I don't think the separation between my sister and I can account for the acting out had in school I believe it severely hindered the relationship potential my sister and I had. I was defying the typical stereotype, the stereotype I tried to live up to, that being born into a middle class average family I shouldn't be defiant.
