Just Wages and Labor Conditions


            Corruption in modern society often leads to greed and avarice. Corporations commonly use unjust wages for personal gain. Regardless of moral decisions several businesses justify unjust wages based on their employee's sex. Contrary though, paying minimum wage or unjust wages may stimulate the business enterprise and guarantee employment. Many businesses employ illegal immigrates for the cheap labor and to avoid taxes. The Catholic Church teaching believes "A just wage is the legitimate fruit of work " (Catechism 2434). Ignoring Just Wages is considered a grave injustice. ­ ­ Evidenced in many businesses, labor conditions can be considered unhealthy and convey a risk of series injury. I personally advocate just wages and ideal labor conditions to assure the welfare of others will not be taken advantage of. .
             Unjust wages consist of both beneficial and ­harmful fascist. In most countries, income inequities amongst woman and men employees ­ ­ ­ are unequal. According to the Department of Justice and Attorney-General a gender pay-gap is common. Many businesses have non-flexible working arrangements, these business take in consideration that females have their family as first priority. An ideal example is a mother who misses work because of her sick child. Another proposed reason is male jobs are valued more than female jobs traditionally. The National Committee on Pay Equity concludes in the United States women make 77 cents for every dollar a man makes. This statistic is shocking because most women are capable of the same amount of productivity male's offer. Although gender pay-gaps are strictly immoral, business owners and stock-holders receive a greater profit. This ultimately stimulates the business and provides jobs. Women's just wages are also impeded by the glass-ceiling theory. This theory is a barrier that prevents woman and minorities from rising up the upper rungs of the corporate latter.
