             The gods created by Nun were not so much personalities, as much as they were sets of attributes and epithets that were continuously interchangeable. They did not actually look like the drawings on the walls of the temples because they were not necessarily physical beings. The drawings of the gods usually show representation of the attribution the god possessed. .
             The gods had the power to be interchangeable as well as take over other gods attributes. This was seen as a token of respect. By switching powers and joining together, the gods actually created new gods. These new gods would always certainly be forms of previous gods but had combined powers. .
             Since there was so much land, gods ended up being created simply to watch over certain regions. There were gods who were known as "city-gods" as well as there were Nome-gods or in other words, "province-gods". There were also gods who were associated with Upper and Lower Egypt. For example, Amentet was the goddess of the West and Meretseger was the goddess of the mountain that dominates the Valley of the Kings and Queens. The gods and places tended to get mixed up easily through the association of Amun with Re. Horus is an example of a city god. This god was worshipped in two different cities, both by the name of Behdet. One of these cities was located in Lower Egypt while the other was in Upper Egypt. Throughout the period of time, some gods were held in higher regard than others. However, there was never a time when a god was completely neglected. .
             The large temples in ancient Egypt were commissioned by the state and the emphasis they put on the temples was the relationship between the king and the gods. These temples were not open to the general public therefore the writings on the walls was aimed to please the gods.
