Julius Caesar - Hero or Villain

King Ptolemy feared Julius Caesar and had wished not to go against him, Ptolemy's decision was to murder Pompey then present his head to Caesar (Channel, 2014). Julius Caesar had such a powerful effect on the world it's quite amazing. His ally in Pompey had turned against him but Caesar somehow had forced Pompey out of his own country also unknowingly having King Ptolemy kill a former client of his just to keep Julius Caesar happy shows the effect he had on the people. Many people had been very intimidated by Caesar his friends, enemies and fellow politician's, all of them had feared what he was capable and the mere feeling of not knowing his intentions was scary to them. Was Caesar intending to make Rome a global power house for the good of the people or was it just to build is name, his legacy and to conquer the world for himself?.
Caesar's main goal started off to have absolute success in Roman leadership and to run the city of Rome, with very strong attempts at better the city. I feel that later in his reign he felt the desire to move further than just Rome, he later had grown the desire to conquer on past Rome also having the ambition to eventually control the world. In his attempts of conquering I believe that it always did end up benefiting Rome in some way, it gave them power and made them a historical power house for many reasons besides Julius' ramped conquers. Though some of Caesar's moves were strictly intended to help the people of Rome to start with he was able to weaken a debt that Rome had inquired during the Civil War. Julius Caesar did not completely do away with all the debt of Rome but he passed many laws to make up for the shortage of coins. Along with the debts came the unemployment, many Roman citizens had no job and were struggling to survive. Julius had given the poor as opportunity to start over their lives overseas in Rome's colonies. Most of which did so but the few that stayed were offered free grain helping them live.
