Death Penalty - American Executions

The amount of time it takes to put together an execution is not the only unbeneficial fact about capital punishment. Going through the process of that death penalty is also costly. As surprising as it may sound, it costs 3 times more to carry out an execution than to sentence some to life in prison without parole. The reason for this is because now a days there is a lot of paper work and court processes to go through in order to carry out an execution, and there a very few lawyers willing to do it. This is also the reason why it takes so long for a sentence to be carried out. Lawyers who agree to do this are paid less compared to lawyers who work in other fields. The only way to raise the lawyers' pay checks would be to raise taxes, and no American wants the taxes raised even higher. Based on the given evidence, those in favor of the death penalty cannot deny the fact that capital punishment is unbeneficial to our country. .
Not only is capital punishment costly and time consuming, but it is always subject to error. Mistakes are inevitable. There are people and organizations that are dedicated to proving the innocence of those that lost their lives unfairly to the death penalty. In the 20th century, 23 victims of execution were proven to be innocent, and therefore murdered. There is no way of knowing how many other innocent lives have been lost due to capital punishment. The Salem Witch Trials are a prime example of this. Twenty people were executed for practicing witchcraft, and the methods used to prove this were very unreliable. The colony even later realized the mistake they had made and tried to compensate the families who had lost innocent loved ones. These mistakes could have been much more easily remedied if the death penalty was not a concept put into practice, and the accused were in jail instead of the ground. .
When discussing a controversial topic, it is important to be open minded and not biased towards one side.
