Blood, fatalities, tears the American Red Cross has seen it all. They are an organization centered on helping people in time of need. They take donations and put them toward helping people during rough times such as after natural disasters. In the United States, they play a huge role in the cleanup and aid after terrorist attacks, freak accidents, droughts, and even when the economy is poor and citizens are struggling. Since the American Red Cross was founded due to the necessity to have an organization that can respond quickly and efficiently, there have been many effects on our country, all good.
The idea of the American Red Cross is based off of the Red Cross, which started in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1863, The Red Cross was started to provide care to the wounded and sick. Clara Barton used this basis of idea, and created a similar organization within United States borders, called the American Red Cross (Founder Clara Barton). The American Red Cross accepts donations and uses them to aid victims of natural disasters, wars, and other times of need, while also having an army of workers to help cleanup or comfort people on a more personal level. The American Red Cross responds to nearly 63,000 situations every year as of now, and the number will only increase.
