College education to me holds the key to a successful career and a brighter future. I chose to go to college right out of high school because I knew I wanted a future in what I love and I already knew what I had to plans to do. I also knew that I couldn't do what I wanted to do without a college education. I believe without a college education you can only really get a basic job. With a college education, you are more likely to become financially stable in the long run. Having a college or higher education can also equip a person with better life skills and improves an individual's quality of life.
Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to work with children. As I got older I figured out that I wanted to be a teacher. As I hit high school I contemplated even going to college because I was told you can be a basic pre-school teacher without a college education. Though I did not want to just be a basic teacher and I took into consideration that later in life I might want to teach a little older. So I decided a college education was important to have so I can do what I planned. Without a college education you are limited to a basic job. Although with a high school education you may secure a job with good benefits but even that is limited to jobs in service, manufacturing, and construction industries. The argument to that statement is with a college education you can enter a higher level career with a greater salary. A college graduate is also more likely to get promotions and earn raises. "Specifically, the US Census Bureau reported in 2004 that, on average, a college graduate earns $54,704, significantly more than the $30,056 earned annually by someone with a high school diploma." [All07].
College education is also important to me to help provide a person with better life skills and to improve an individual's quality of life. "During their classes, college students often develop the reasoning skills needed to make life decisions" [Edu14].
