Journalistic Essay - North Coast Music Festival

            As I walked down Ashland Ave next to Union Park in Chicago my heart began beating faster when I heard the music of North Coast Music Festival on August 29 at 7 o'clock at night I knew my three day adventure began. After I got inside, the first thing that caught my eye was the lights. There are five different stages, and all play different music at the same time. Instead of using names for the stages they used Chicago area codes such as 630,708, and 312. .
             Union Park was set up perfectly. Anywhere I looked I could have found a beverage because they were in every corner of the park. It was very convenient, but the only problem was when I went to get a bottle of water the line took forever. Not only was the wait long, but the workers were the complete opposite of affable. I bought a bottle of water for four dollars and let them keep my dollar change and they were still rude to me. It made me frustrated because I was nice enough to leave a tip when most people leave nothing. Next time they should edify their staff working the event. For the people who forgot to bring cash they have ATM's by every beverage station. In Union Park there are tons of Vendors that allow you to purchase all kinds of t-shirts and hats. The one bad thing is that all of the merchandise is overpriced. I would have bought a shirt there if it was twenty dollars, but I'm not going to spend thirty five dollars for a t-shirt that I might wear once. .
             The park has different colored material hanging from tree to tree to block the sun and give some areas shade. It was perfect because Saturday was hot, but when I was beneath the material hanging it was about fifteen degrees cooler. They have smoke machines on the stage, which was very cool when they put on the lasers. When the sun went down and it was dark out they turned on the smoke machines, and the lasers reflected off the smoke which provided a very cool sight to see.
