Planned Parenthood has been around for more than eighty five years. The organization has seven centers throughout the Southwest Ohio Region. Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio is known as the leading reproductive health care provider, educator and advocate for Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky communities. The seven health centers provide a wide range of reproductive health care services to many men and women of all races and cultures without discrimination. .
Planned Parenthood has 66 unique, locally governed affiliates nationwide. They operate approximately 700 health centers, which reflect the diverse needs of their communities. Their mission is to provide access to high quality health care and education that empowers all people to make informed private decisions about their reproductive lives and sexual health. .
On November 11, 2014, I went to visit the local Planned Parenthood in my community. I was greeted at the front desk by a helpful receptionist, whom provided me with all the information for this paper. The front lobby was filled with ten or more diverse men and women clients, filling out paper work, who waited patiently to be serviced by the facility. The building contained several floors and rooms providing medical care, education, and counseling. The walls and tables were filled with brochures and framed posters containing information the agency provided. Information displayed in the lobby consisted of brochures pertaining information about STD's and different types of birth control, and other community resources that were available to the public for various causes and reasons. .
The large lobby had a cozy atmosphere. The furniture throughout the lobby was updated to a more casual contemporary décor, and on the middle table sat a large bowl of multi-colored condoms labeled "Free ". What caught my attention and interest was the large framed poster "Language Line Solutions " displayed at the lobby window.
