" From a different point of view, some people rely on guns to provide food to them. So by stripping them of right to bear Arms, you also leave them unable to feed themselves and their families. Overall, without this right, we loose that what make America significant. I see that this Amendment will continue to remain a controversial issue far into the future, but we cannot forget there was a reason why this Amendment is in the Bill of Rights. Those individuals sitting in those seats in Congress voting to approve this understood that this Amendment provides the security needed to the people from harm and equally as important keep America free.
This brings next the Eighteenth Amendment "After one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is hereby prohibited " (The Bill of Rights). This is more gave way for the commonly known Prohibition. According to pbs.org "The growth of the illegal liquor trade under Prohibition made criminals of millions of Americans. As the decade progressed, court rooms and jails overflowed, and the legal system failed to keep up " (Lerner, 2014). Aside from the legal standpoint from a fiscal point of view the "Prohibition cost the federal government a total of $11 billion in lost tax revenue, while costing over $300 million to enforce " (Lerner, 2014). Even in todays world this seems as a law that would never succeed, with the market that alcohol sells contribute too, just as back then we would be cutting ourselves off at the knees. Those companies that rely on the manufacturing of guns and ammunition or producing alcohol would now be out of business. When those companies go out of business, the employees now lose their ability to financial provide for their family.
