Advertisement is a method for corporations and organizations to promote their goods and services. Some people think that advertising contributes to community by giving a knowledge of standards of quality and cost and thus people become more appreciative of a good thing. Furthermore, they may have more chances to go shopping by becoming independent of the monopoly of their local dealer. (Powers, 2014) On the other hand, according to Hayko(2010), even the advertisement business thinks that advertisement has destructive effects on society since companies wish to convince us the products they offer us should be in our lives. As we know that living without advertisement is almost impossible in today's world. Unless someone is a hermit and does not watch television, movies, read newspapers and magazines, listen to the radio or surf the web, they will be affected by advertisements. This study explores inevitable detrimental influences of advertisement on people.
It is a well-known fact that advertisement creates the awareness of presence of products. People get more information about the products they are interested in. Some people think that advertisement demonstrates new things or products for children and thus it is not harmful. It educates children and broads their horizon about the world. On the other hand, advertisement is threating for children both physically and psychologically. First of all, advertisements damage children's eating habits and thus cause unhealthy nutrition. Children become addicted to fast food, chips and other harmful products since they see these products all the time and get used to them unavoidably. Secondly, the most dangerous effect of advertisements for children is child obesity. Researches show that there is a proportional relationship between obesity and watching food advertisements. Children continue to eat while watching food advertisements and thus they get calories involuntarily.
