The New York Obesity Crisis

He states that 58% of New Yorkers are obese followed by other straight linked diseases. Obesity has caused New York City four billion dollars each year and based to what Bloomberg says the crisis is only getting bigger and there is a need in in taking action to prevent upcoming difficulties. He says that there will be help given to ones who face such difficulties and that the soda ban is one of many that is a must to pass this struggle. .
Bloomberg fails to prove what is the real problem and what is the task he is tackling. He focuses more in proving that people are obese rather than focusing on how to make them healthier. He says that "58% of New Yorkers city wide are overweight or obese" making look like the body size is the real problem. On the other side Lindy West clearly explains that body mass isn't necessary linked to health. On her article West states, " I want people to be healthy! But first of all, though weight loss can certainly improve some people's health, "fat" does not universally equal "unhealthy." Which lets you with the questions that is weight or health the real problem for which Bloomberg talks about. .
When making an emotional appeal to the public Bloomberg also misleads itself into making people argue whether health is his primary task. Instead of talking more about the health of fellow New Yorkers he seems to be more concerned about the governments money. On his Speech he claims that" Obesity caused NYC alone roughly 4 billion dollars each year, nation wide that number is a 150 billion dollars and the crisis is only getting worse" clarifying that he doesn't only care about our health. Based on Lindy West the Governments Issue is clearly the fat people assuming they are unhealthy. West states" I cannot even imagine being that same fat kid in 2012-having to put up with all the misery and the shame and the tunics (SO MANY TUNICS), along with the added pain of knowing that the government officially considers you an epidemic.
