Looking back on my parent's upbringing, advanced technology was not yet developed and could/did not take over their lives like it has with my generation. When comparing our generations, today the idea of life without technology is thought to be unbearable. The last generation to know what life was like without it would be my parent's time. Modern day culture now is completely engulfed in and dependent on technology. Having technology nowadays makes others think and act differently than older people who did not have technology. .
The main distinction between my parent's generation and mine is that they did not have access to technology right at their very fingertips. When I first see something that attracts my attention. For an example nature, the first thing I do is take a picture on my phone and post it on social networks. That is what my natural reaction is. I want to share what I have seen with my friends and the rest of the world. Yet I do not completely recollect the actual sight and experience as I would without the easy access of smart phone. On the other hand, when my father, mother, and older generations were children, they would see any beautiful or memorable sight and take it in. They would truly take the time to appreciate it without the instinct of pulling out their phone. They may have taken a picture with an old camera, but they did not have the type of technology to use a smart phone, take a picture or post it for others to see. .
One of the biggest differences between my generation and my parents caused by technology is really knowing what it is like to go about my daily life without technology distracting my generation from their surroundings. My generation knows that they can take a picture and see it later, but again without today's technology back then, they could not do that. Another significant difference between my generation and my parents is math and spelling skills.
