Carl Marx theory states "society is made up of two social classes, the capitalist and the exploited workers."(Henslin, 2013) For example, my summer employment was at a Naval Base Shipyard and the requirement for this job was that you stand in the hot sun 7 days a week for 10 hour days, and did not allow for many breaks or off time. Although the pay was good the job in itself was not worth feeling enslaved-in other words, exploited.
In addition, President Obama stated that women deserved to have lives outside of work to have a child or care for parents without fear of sacrificing their jobs. (Obama, B.H., 2014) He wants to give women the opportunities they deserve, and also if women succeed then America succeeds, as they make up about half of the workforce. Likewise, Jane Addams was a leader in women's rights as well as the peace movement of World War I. She strived to bridge the gap between the powerful and the powerless and one of her major campaigns were for the eight-hour work day. (Handlin, 2013).
Then the creation of "research hubs" and matching job training to jobs needed now works in favor of moving America ahead of other countries as well as reduces inequality. (Obama, B.H.) The "research hubs" purpose is to ensure America is first with the new advancement in technology and to ensure these jobs are kept in the United States. We live in a technology driven society, and in order to be number one in advancement our country has to be creative, and to incorporate research universities with businesses is the best way. Unfortunately, inequality is found where opportunities are not afforded to everyone. Matching job training to jobs now allows no excuse for those willing to get the necessary training needed for advancement. Therefore, Auguste Comte process of Positivism supports this idea of creating equality within the workforce. Comte believed that when society becomes set on a particular course, it must be found what causes it to change.
