Nazi Propaganda: 1933-1945

The SA were devoted followers of Hitler since the founding of the party in 1921, and once Hitler came to power they were expecting recognized for that. Their demands caused great problems for Hitler, as it would entail provoking the army and affronting businesses that helped fund the party. The night of June 30th 1934, Hitler commanded the SS to apprehend and execute the SA leaders. Ernest Rhm along with hundreds of others was murdered. The German people were thrilled about this, as Hitler had portrayed Rhm as a drunkard and a danger to the Nazi state and they were convinced that the SA were enemies of the state. This resulted in the President personally thanking Hitler for saving Germany from an upcoming revolution.
The use of propaganda was successful as the SA were perceived as enemies of the state and that Rhm was dangerous. It also worked to Hitler's advantage as he got rid Rhm, his opposition, and looked like a hero whilst doing so. He went on to becoming Fhrer and having the Army swear an oath of allegiance to Hitler. The Nazis were very creative when it came to anti-Semitic propaganda. In the majority of anti-Semitic posters the characters features were twisted and distorted making them look visually unpleasant. By choosing to inundate Germans with execrable images relating to Jews the Nazis elicited hateful and abhorrent feelings in Germans. This worked effectively in regards to propaganda as the Nazis succeeded in subliminally associating Jews with repugnant imagery. Propaganda was also successful in making Germans believe that the Jews were to blame for the aftermath of the Treaty of Versailles and how it was the Jews fault that Germany lost the Great War. .
Hitler provided the Jews as a scapegoat for the effects of the Weimar Republic and used propaganda to alienate them and make German citizens feel like the Jews were to blame for making Germany weak. Jewish stereotypes shown in propaganda reinforced anxieties that Hitler had created against the Jews.
