Character Analysis: Icabod Crane

If you asked someone to analyze you and write a paper about it, what do you think they would write? They might approach the situation by writing about your physical attributes, your personality traits, and even details about your emotions. I was asked to write a character analysis on Icabod Crane from the story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", and that is the exact method that I used. .
From his long slender legs, all the way up to his bony face and frail hair, Icabod Crane was an odd figure of a man. With his prominent facial features (such as his long nose and chiseled cheek bones) and his lanky limbs, he closely resembled a scarecrow.
This string bean of a man was not only very educated, but also extremely well spoken. His intelligent words were only affront to the easily spooked demeanor he had. Although he was very sure of himself in front of others, when it came to matters of manlihood he cowered with self-doubt. However, Icabod managed to make-up for his lack of masculinity by being very classy and elegant with his presence. He carried himself in the most respectful way.
Icabod seemed to be very sure of himself and his ways. I dare even say that Mr. Crane was egotistical at times, mostly in the presence of others. He didn't belittle anyone with his knowledge and intelligence, but he made sure his educational attributes were known. Even as smart and witty as Icabod was, he showed small glimpses of low self-esteem at times. He was made jealous very easily and often seemed to lack a sense of self. He had moments where he acted as though he was superior in many ways, but also there were times when he seemed down upon himself. .
Compared to what the figure of a man "should be", Icabod Crane may not have amounted to much. He did not have the typical muscles and brute, but he did, however, make up for it with his appreciation of finer things in life and looking at the world through such curious eyes.
