Preventing and treating is mainly concerned with getting exercise and watching fat and calorie intake.
             Theoretical Perspective.
             Childhood Obesity is related to the learning perspective because as children we seem to think what ever our parents do is correct and Papalia & Feldman (2012) say that children who have parents that are unhealthy and overweight puts the children at risk to be obese or overweight. Also they mention that media teaches kids that they are not fat or they are too skinny.
             Intent .
             Papalia and Feldman's (2012) intent is to let the reader become aware of how serious of concern obesity actually is. They tell us what causes it, who is affected by it, and what we can do to prevent and treat it. The authors feel that obesity needs to be more of a concern to public and all the consequences that come with it like low self-esteem and medical issues. Also they emphasize that not only is eating healthy important but also being physically active is just as important. The authors made it very clear of their intent and got the message across that being obese can have very serious consequences. .

             Authority.
             Gutierrez speaks on the results of a study conducted by researchers from the University of California-Los Angeles and published in the journal Academic Pediatrics. He talks about research done in the past by researchers and past and current studies like the "2007 National Survey of Children's Health" that involves childhood obesity. Gutieerrez does not incorporate his own opinion he just elaborates of the results of the studies done by the researchers. .
             Content .
             Gutierrez discusses how the obesity leads to a drastic increase in the risk of certain chronic health conditions later in life like childhood chronic conditions such as asthma, learning disabilities and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and also immediate consequences (Gutierrez, 2012).
