200, I can honestly say that I was a little nervous to actually .
Although, I was not teaching that day. While coding, I .
observed that teaching is an arduous process filled with many trials and many tribulations. .
Tara Fearon, who was the lead teacher of the day for fitness did some things that were .
good and many things that needed a lot of improvement. What I liked most about Tara's .
lesson and what I thought she did extremely well on, was how well she introduced fitness by .
asking the kids questions like "Why is flexibility important to us?" and "What kind of .
activities can you guys remember when you have to incorporate flexibility?" Tara also did .
an awesome job of making the students stretch and flex their hamstrings, quadriceps, and .
their arms before gameplay. Another excellent example Tara did well on was her .
instructions about her activities because they were clear and concise; making them easy to .
follow. .
As I was observing Tara's teaching, I felt that she had made many mistakes in her .
lesson plan. For instance, Tara didn't project her voice loud enough for the kids to hear .
due to her nervousness. When Tara proposed her activities to the kids, I noticed that they .
we're having lots of fun, but the problem that stood out to me the most was that none of her .
activities such as "Monkey in the middle", "Red light, Green light 1,2,3", "Duck, duck .
goose", and "Steal the bacon" had absolutely nothing to do with what she was teaching in .
the first place, which was flexibility. I felt like Tara could've used other exercises or .
examples as a teacher for flexibility, forward lunges, jumping jacks, using resistant bands, .
and if she wanted to challenge them a bit more by making the kids perform the sit and .
reach exercise as we did in fitness 10 during the summer. Tara could have gotten a little .
more unique with her teaching by yelling out different types of body parts in the body and .
letting the kids decide on how they want to flex that certain body part.
