These provinces are separated geographically throughout Canada and this continues to form the political context within our federal and provincial systems where each individual province has the freedom to express its views. This includes selecting representatives from a specific region to be a part of our parliament and the ongoing policy making for the best interest of Canada. It also includes the selection of representatives for a specific region, which creates laws for the best interest of that territory. Inheriting this process forms a political context where each province can express it's given views on related topics. It aids in the process so that one geographical location in Canada is not bombarded by the interests of others. .
Due to the fact Canada is rich in resources, this continues to create conflict among provinces. In particular, regional economic deficiencies are created because regions that are heavily reliant on resource-based industries get affected by the available resources in that area. Furthermore, marketability and their value within a given market are dictated by a region that is much more industrialized than that of their own [Kan13]. Each regional sector is looking out for its best interest and therefore, arguments erupt over who has the rights to a specific resources. This is no different from the past except today, we have a federal government body that creates policies in the best interest of Canada as a whole. It creates the same function of the environment, many of us grew up in. Parents were active in their children's lives and created rules to encompass the best interest of all the children. The federal government tries to do much the same, but in many cases, cannot find a solution that is a one size fits all.
One could argue this makes it extremely difficult to govern Canada as a whole. The fact is, like any family, workplace or country for that matter, conflicts will always be present.
