Preventing Gastric Cancer


The disease is usually detected in its late stages, which contributes to the high mortality rates (Shiotoni, Cen, & Graham, 2013). With the increased amount of research and information there are becoming more paths that people can follow to find and prevent gastric cancers. There are many lifestyle affects that contribute to gastric cancer and have an impact on people all over the world. Different diets are included in the lifestyle factors that can alter a persons risk for gastric cancer. Examining these lifestyle factors are important things to look at when dealing with gastric cancer because they can be used in the prevention and possible treatment for the cancer. .
             Cancer affects people all over the world and most people have likely been directly or indirectly affected by it. Gastric cancer and the issues that come with it can cause a big burden and a lot of pain for patients and their families. With an increased understanding of the lifestyle factors that are related to gastric cancer it can provide information on how to prevent the disease and ultimately save some lives. The lifestyle factors that are included in this paper show how they are related gastric cancer and how they can be prevented.
             Diagnosis and Symptoms.
             In the early stages of gastric cancer the symptoms are not very prevalent. The most common symptoms include soreness in upper abdomen, burning feeling in the stomach, weight loss, and weakness (Jiang, 2012). Along with gastric cancer, these symptoms could also be involved in things like ulcers or other minor medical problems (Hewitt, 2013). Without tests it is hard to identify which is the cause of the symptoms. As this disease moves from the early stages to the late stages the effects and symptoms progress also. The early symptoms become more amplified and the discomfort for the patient becomes much worse (Jiang, 2012). The late stages are usually when stomach cancer is discovered because of the constant symptoms and discomfort.
