            The effect of MOOCs on education is in disagreement amongst well known education writers of today. There are some educators that usher in new technology advances affecting education such as Thomas Friedman. Other education writers such as Neil Postman hold onto a more traditional view of how technology should affect education. Neil Postman and Thomas Friedman will serve as great examples of how education writers strongly differ on the benefits of technology in education and MOOCs. Neil Postman and Thomas Friedman would never find common ground regarding MOOCs.
             Neil Postman stands as a traditionalist when viewing technologies effect on educational methods and processes. Neil Postman [Pos95] technology will have a minimal positive impact on the future of education. Although Postman sees some benefit of technology in education, he disagrees with any lasting positive impact, just as the radio and other technological advances. Postman [Pos95] does say that there is a possible negative impact where the lack of community in education will adversely affect childhood development. Overwhelmingly, Postman [Pos95] believes that the change in family dynamic may be contributing to children requiring new and different types of education. Neil Postman would not be easily convinced that technological advances in education should be of any concern.
             Thomas Friedman is on the forefront of the new technology based education platforms called MOOCs. Friedman [Ban13] believes that the desire for MOOCs in education is evident from the demand by the public, the government and some educators. Thomas Friedman [Fri13] says that the technological changes in education, specifically MOOCs, will actually raise the socio-economic standing of many individuals by giving access to education that was once out of their reach. Thomas Friedman can serve as the MOOCs number one proponent and will spare nothing to get the word out on how MOOCs will change the world as we know it.
