Fantasy Books, Movies and the Developing Teenage Mind

They waste their time over such thinking and do not concentrate on the matters that are going to benefit them for example studies and extracurricular activities. This places them in a fantasy world far away from the ground realities of life.
In addition, girls and boys have different effect when it comes to idealizing their character. Teen girls fantasize to have boyfriends or future husbands similar to Damon Salvatore, Tony Stark or Michael Scofield. They would always struggle to find someone like them from every point of view, be it monetarily, charismatically or characteristically. At the same time, teen boys look for perfect soul mates who tend to have the beautiful and elegant face with an intelligent brain. Lost in such fantasized world, the teenagers of today forget to differentiate reality from fiction-based TV shows/Movies. They forget those real human beings are not perfect as they are shown on television resulting in heartbreak and depression.
Another way that they are lost in the fantasized world is that they start to think that creatures like vampires, werewolves, zombies etc. do exist. They start to have the desire to become one of those creatures and in some cases are ready to fight those creatures. They want to have the supernatural power that they see/read in the fiction-based world. This in result causes violence or accidents among the teens. There have been cases recorded in different parts of the world that teens tried to fly like Superman by jumping off the roof. Not only acting like their favorite character, most of the times teenagers try to think like them. When they are in a situation they try to think like Batman, Superman or whosoever their idol is to solve the situation they are in. Therefore, this brings about a change in the perspectives of the adolescent mind. In order to divert their attention from such fantasies parents, close relatives and friends have to do their job and their job is to interact with teenagers who are neck deep in fantasy.
