Twelfth Night - A Bond Beyond Love

Love is an intense feeling of deep affection. It is a feeling of deep romantic or emotional attachment towards someone. Types of love can vary from person to person. If properly approached, love can be a beautiful thing. In the book, Twelfth Night, written by Shakespeare, is the ongoing build of brotherly love as it is shown throughout multiple points in the play. The story starts off with the main character, Viola, and her brother, Sebastian, caught in a storm which separates both of them leading both siblings to the conclusion that each other are dead. At this point, Viola needs work, per the captain's suggestion; she disguises herself as Cesario so she can serve Duke Orsino, who is in love with Lady Olivia. As the story moves forward, Olivia finds herself in love with Viola's disguise, Cesario. The problem escalates itself when Violas thought to be dead brother, Sebastian, gets married to Olivia, as Olivia thinks that he is Cesario. By the end of the play, everyone lives happily ever after. Viola marries Orsino and Olivia marries Sebastian. It is clear that a play can show the very truth and nature of brotherly love. This is evident through the explanation of reuniting families and close friends who are willing to go above and beyond for each other.
One will only truly understand how much they value something after they don't have it in their possession anymore. Humans are designed to want whatever it is they can't have. Sebastian and his sister, Viola, greatly miss each other after both siblings are separated and want to just meet each other once more. When Sebastian and Viola assumed each other to be dead, they obviously felt regret and sadness as they both thought they would never see each other again. One can imagine the atmosphere when the family reunited again, as Sebastian did say, "I should my tears let fall upon your cheek And say, Thrice Welcome, drowned Viola! " (V.I.240-241).
