Khalid Shaikh Mohammed (KSM) and His Conspirators

The United States district court system should not have been the method used as a pursuit of justice against the alleged terrorists behind the September 11 attacks. By giving foreign terrorists the right to be tried in the American court system, provides them the same robust constitutional rights as a US citizen and public enemies of the state have never been afforded the protections of the Bill of Rights (Dehn 1). The civilian court system mandates a sharing of information between the legal counsels for the plaintiff and the defendant. Information divulged in the trial may provide critical intelligence to international terrorist organizations and compromise US security interests to include the safety of US persons and the defense of our country and its allies. Foreign terrorists should be tried in a consistent manner and not haphazardly flip-flopped between military tribunals and US civilian courts. High profile international terrorists tried in the US court system will and have generated great international publicity, which as we know, is exactly what terrorist organizations use to recruit their forces and gain international recognition for their cause. If these high profile cases are processed in the United States, it puts the American people and their cities in danger of targeted terrorist activity and the cost associated with the heightened security, possible retrials and more probable appeals will further tax and in turn punish the American citizen. While supporters of the civilian trials proclaim that "due process " and justice must be afforded to all, as we have seen in the past, civilian trials of terrorists have been based more on international rules and procedures rather than on United States laws and jurisdiction. The terrorists linked to the 9/11 attacks should not have been tried in the United States courts. .
