Although the number of the world's lingua franca keeps on increasing daily, a lot of researches have proven that a few people understand what a lingua franca is, causing them not to see its significance. According to the United Nations Educational Scientific and cultural Organisations in 1953 defined a lingua franca as a language that is used habitually by people whose mother tongues are different in order to facilitate communication between them. Regardless of their number increasing daily, English keeps the lead. Sabine (2011) clearly stated that the number of people using English as a lingua franca keeps on increasing daily more than any other language. Its number increasing is linked to its significance in fields like technology, business, while socialising, plus a lot of others. Even though the influence of English as a lingua franca to technology is significant, a lot of people rarely appreciate it. Anna and Elena (2009) deduced that using English as a lingua Franca leads to the increase in the use of technology, even though it sounds unrealistic. However this contribution is indirect as it is done in a non-verbal form of communication. It has become a habit that most manual book, which carries directory or instruction information on how to operate technical devices are written in English. English does not necessarily need to be the mother tongue for the manual instructor or the one to be instructed. It is also beneficial that most technical devices carry their operational functions in English, making it an advantage to people using it as a lingua franca.
It has also become apparent that communication is vital in a business. According to Jenkins (2007) communication in a business creates its picture, conveying its identity. Jerkins went further ahead to state that, English is the most world used lingua franca in terms of global business when it comes to business. Different departments in a business, assist each other through English, as well as share information.
