Overview of Skeletal Diseases

Sprains often occur in the following circumstances: .
             - Ankle: walking or exercising on an uneven surface.
             - Knee: pivoting during an athletic activity.
             - Wrist: landing on an outstretched hand during a fall.
             - Thumb: skiing or playing racquet sports, such as tennis.
             7. Dislocation .
A dislocation occurs when the bones that are usually connected at a joint separate. You can dislocate a variety of different joints in your body, including your knee, hip, ankle, or shoulder. Dislocations typically result when a joint experiences an unexpected or unbalanced impact. This might happen if you fall or experience a harsh hit. Once a joint has been dislocated, it is more at risk for dislocations in the future.
             8. Osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone tissue. This leads to increased bone fragility and risk of fracture (broken bones), particularly of the hip, spine, wrist and shoulder. Osteoporosis is often known as "the silent thief " because bone loss occurs without symptoms.
             9. Osteomyelitis.
Osteomyelitis means infection of the bone or bone marrow; inflammation of the bone due to infection. Osteomyelitis sometimes occurs as a complication of injury or surgery. In some cases, the infection may get into bone tissue from the bloodstream. Patients with osteomyelitis typically experience deep pain and muscle spasms in the inflammation area, as well as fever.
             10. Osteoarthritis.
Osteoarthritis is associated with the degeneration of normal aging joints and affects the joints as well and surrounding tissues (ligaments, cartilage, bone, and lining). It causes pain and stiffness, especially in the hip, knee, and thumb joints.
             11. Cleft Palate.
Cleft palate is a facial and oral malformation that occurs very early in pregnancy, while the baby is developing inside the mother. It results when there is not enough tissue in the mouth or lip area, and the tissue that is available does not join together properly.
