"The choices we make dictate the life we lead"- Danny Devito, Actor/Comedian .
Each choice we make leads us to our final destination. I consider myself lucky to have been given the opportunity by my parents to follow my dream and be proud of who I will be. I come from a family of engineers, pharmacists, and physicians, so it did not come as a surprise to me when I decided to choose medicine as my career of choice and my personal experiences have motivated me in pursuing it. In the hopes of getting a head start in college, I took AP and Honor classes and worked hard to maintain a high GPA. I realized that in order to achieve my goal for academic achievement and excellence, I needed to enhance and strengthen my understanding of leadership skills which, up until recently, I had experienced limited exposure. I take pride in the fact that I like to challenge myself and these experiences have shaped me to be the person I am today and the kind of physician I hope to be. I have strong work ethics and have been able to balance my academic and personal life in addition to devoting my time to extracurricular activities including tennis and football. I am a member of multiple clubs at school including LEAF club, Future Business Leaders of America, Investing Club, and also volunteer at Midwest Food Bank, and for American Red Cross. .
My aspiration to become a physician has greatly been motivated by my personal experiences which have helped me build the knowledge and leadership skills required for medical school. I work well under stress and pressure. After requiring an emergency hip surgery due to a football injury, I was nervous that my academic performance would be detrimental to my High Honor status. I put in more effort to work harder and my quest to succeed in school led me to achieve Presidential award that school year, become a member of The High National Society of High School Scholars and also to be nominated for National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Award of Excellence this year.
