When intelligence is mentioned, people typically imagine books, high test scores, and Ivy league colleges. Similarly, others believe standardized test scores tell you how intelligent a person is, and your GPA is all that matters. However, intelligence is much more than being able to understand regular school subjects such as math or science. So what is intelligence? What is the exact definition of intelligence? Intelligence is not something that can be defined by one, two, three, or any certain amount of definitions. In my perspective, intelligence is in every person, those unique traits that each person uses differently. Intelligence includes creativity, common sense, and the ability to see things from a different perspective. .
The idea of your intelligence being decided by a standardized test is not fair. IQ quizzes do not take into account the arts, such as dance, theatre, music, etc. Even though the arts and sciences have many things in common, the key factor between them is that they both require the ability to think. Although the arts are not featured on the ACT/SAT, and they are not required school subjects, they actually require just as much thinking as math and science. When a choreographer creates the moves, plans out the dance, and teaches the dance, she/he are using their intelligence. When a musician learns how to play the instruments or write music, they use their intelligence. That shows us that are multiple ways to be intelligence. So, intelligence can be seen through different perspectives. One person may say that scientists and doctors are the the most intelligent because they find research and information that saves lives, but another might say musicians and artists are the most intelligent because they use their brains in a new and creative way. But is all about how you are looking at things. One is not necessarily better than the other. Although the sciences do play an important role in our life, the arts play a major one too.
