First Person Point of View - Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights

The rain splashed on my shoulders as I made my way out of Wuthering Heights. I could not bear stay in Catherine's presence when I have been so viciously rejected by my only love. I vowed to leave and not come back until I had solidified my status as a Gypsy with wealth so that Catherine would love me again. I fled to Germany, hoping to find assistance. The next morning, I redoubled my efforts. I entered a restaurant and begged for money. However, my bravery and persistence was rewarded by a sharp blow to the head from the restaurant owner. Immediately losing consciousness, the only lucid thought I could make out was of Catherine and I together. When I woke up, I found that my arms and feet were shackled. I could feel a large lump on the back of my head due to the blow I received yesterday. The next thing I noticed were the dozen men I was with and immediately my mind started to panic. Soon afterwards, a gruff voice shouted, "Get up slaves!"." My mind took several minutes to finally register the fact that I had become a slave. The next few days were the worst days I could remember. Every part of my body ached, my hands and feet blistered to the slightest touch, and my stomach and throat cried out for food and water. On the fifth day of this torture, my luck finally turned. After a long arduous day of labor, the dozen men I was with and I were getting ready to sleep when we saw a dark figure approaching from about one hundred yards out. .
When he finally arrived, I felt as if he was staring at me, but this notion left my mind quickly when he asked to see our owner. After a few minutes of discussion between the owner and the unknown figure, my owner came to me and unlocked my shackles. My heart sank as quickly as it elated; why would a random stranger free me from my torture? He manifested that he had a score to settle with Edgar Linton, but he needed a partner to accomplish his goals. He told me I was to become a bounty hunter; after an arduous and painful training program, I would be allowed to accompany him to kill Edgar and take back my wife.
