Working and the Economic Opportunity Act

.
In our Transportation program we work with helping people commute to work, and group travel. It is a non emergency medical transportation and public transit door-to-door transportation to medical appointments. Also we work with Greyhound bus agents as a shuttle bus to people in rural areas. We cover twelve counties which include: Calhoun, Clark, Colombia, Dallas, Hot Springs, Lonoke, Montgomery, Ouachita, Pike, Pulaski, Saline, and Union. The Transportation department at CADC is called SCAT which means South Central Arkansas Transit. Our product is a service, and our goal is to make this service as attractive as possible to our riders. The goal of the CADC- SCAT Program is to provide safe, high quality and reliable transportation for all riders. Standard rules and policies are always necessary to operate a program efficiently, safely, and in a professional manner. Each driver has to qualify in order to work for SCAT.A prospective SCAT driver is to: sign a declaration prior to employment that lists all convictions related to drug abuse, substance abuse, or sexual offenses; all crimes of violence for which convicted; all convictions of felonies in the last five years; and their driver's license cannot have been suspended or revoked in the last five years.
Drivers must obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 90 working days from their hire date. This has to be at least a Class "C" License with a "P" endorsement. If a driver already has a Commercial Driver License they are required to obtain a "P" endorsement. Criminal records are checked on all CADC –SCAT employees. Continued employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal record checked. Disqualification for drivers is any prior convictions of sexual offenses, drug related, or substance abuse, or crimes of violence. Individuals who have within the last five years or currently have a suspended or revoked driver's license are prohibited from transporting riders.
