Student Study - Being Late for Class

             .
             Methods.
To properly conduct this study it was necessary to strictly survey high school students. A key factors that had to be considered before selecting the location for where the survey were to be conducted, was the existence of food stores in the vicinity of the school. The location had to be such that students would comfortably be able to walk/travel to these places during their lunch break and conveniently my own school, North Albion C.I. was a perfect fit. The North Albion C.I. student body would serve as my population. As for my sample frame, it consists of students from all four grades, consisting primarily of grade 12 students (53%) followed by grade 9 students (36.4%). The specific classes surveyed include: Ms. Modam's grade 12 Advanced Functions class, Mr. Muchinsky grade 12 Economics class, grade 9 Math class, grade 9 Introduction to Business class, _________gr 11____gr 10_________. In total 65 students were surveyed, making for a decent sample size.
To conduct this survey, I used the Cluster Random Sampling technique. More specifically, I divided my population (NACI student body) into groups, in this case grades. I then conveniently selected a class and surveyed it, doing this multiple times over (these classes happened to be conveniently located near the class that I was in during that period). This separate from Stratified Random Sampling because the groups are not proportional to each other. I felt that this was the most appropriate technique to collect the data because data collection is efficient and all of the groups (grades) in the sample frame would be represented. While all this good, we must of course be aware of the flaws in this technique that may have affected the data. Cluster Random Sampling makes way for common opinions that may be present amongst the different grades. In addition to this, the groups were not equally represented which could again make for bias in the results.
