History of the North American Bigfoot

These giants (12 to 15 feet tall cannibals) were said to attack Indian villages and take the inhabitants for food. The Paiute Indians have history with these giants that they called the Si Te Cah (Paulides). The Paiute were at war with them for many years and won by banding together many tribes to fight. They trapped the creatures inside of a cave and burned the inside, shooting the ones who escaped. All of the creatures died. The cave where this supposedly took place is called Lovelock Cave today, located in Nevada (Paulides). Many years later, the cave started to be excavated by miners. The miners found artifacts and supposedly giant mummified skeletons. Locals continue to whisper about giant skulls and skeletons which are hidden from the public. .
In addition, another popular North American Bigfoot Incident came from a man named David Thompson. He kept a daily journal while crossing the Rocky Mountains near Alberta in winter of 1811 (Parkash). On one of his hikes, he came across Bigfoot tracks. It was said that this sighting of prints was the first ever recorded by a white man. Thompson wrote, "Its great size was not that of a bear" (Parkash). Forty years after his first experience, he came back to the area and found another track similar to the one before.
On the mystery show, "Lost Tapes," game warden Rachel Glen tells of an experience she had with Bigfoot while on a poaching investigation during August 2nd to 14th 2005. She had cameras set up around the forest, hoping to catch the poacher in the area. The cameras picked up a dark figure which she examined in the photographs. Although she could not identify it, she knew it was not a bear. She observed anxious behavior in the bears, adding to the weird noises coming from the forest (Glen). "There is something out there,"" she wrote in one of her field entries (Glen). Glen took a hair sample and found that it did not match a bear; more like a primate.
